Apple G5
Computer Lab
Fast computers have revolutionized motion
picture editing. Our brand-new computer lab/classroom offers
students Apple G5 computers coupled with Mac's awesome 23-inch
Cinema HD monitors. Students edit and finish their movies using
Apple's Production Suite, which includes Final Cut Pro HD, Motion,
and DVD Studio Pro. In addition, students learn compositing on
the industry standard Adobe After Effects.

High Definition Camera Equipment
From the very first day of class our students
work in HD video using state-of-the-art Sony HDV cameras. As
students learn their craft, they will use larger format Sony
and Panasonic HD and 24p digital cameras. Sachtler tripods, matte
boxes and hi-end tech monitors will round out every students
camera package.
Sony F950
HiDef 24p Camera
The F950 is Sony's highest-end High Definition
camera and shoots uncompressed 4:4:4 1080p HD video at a film-like
24 frames per second, offering superb picture quality for today's
digital motion picture productions. The Sony F950 has been used
to shoot many feature films including "Revenge of the Sith"
and "Sin City". Advanced filmmaking students will be
trained on this camera, having the opportunity to use it in class
and on set.
Sound Recording
Equipment
Our students learn the craft of production
audio recording using the best professional equipment. At traditional
film schools audio is often ignored, but not at SFSDF. Our students
use Sennheiser microphones and headphones, Fostex hard disc recorder/
mixers and Light Wave boom poles.
Lighting
& Grip Equipment
According to Stephen Kopels, one of SFSDF
Founders, "lighting is everything." Our extensive list
of lighting and grip equipment attests to this philosophy. Students
use Arriflex, KinoFlo, Mole Richardson, Chimera, Matthews and
Century lighting / grip equipment - all the same tools used on
professional movie productions.
